 Description

We are pleased to offer these beautiful handmade prayer wheels built specially for FPMT students. They are built according to traditional Tibetan Buddhist specifications. Each prayer wheel is custom turned from beautiful hardwood, filled with microfilm copies of the Compassion Buddha's mantra "Om Mani Padme Hung," and adorned with a beautiful Swarovski lead crystal. The Sanskrit syllables for "Om Mani Padmie Hung" wrap around the cylinder of the prayer wheel. In between each set of letters are inlaid Swarovski lead crystals. Each prayer wheel is made in accordance to Venerable Lama Zopa Rinpoche's instructions.

The approx.sizes and number of mantras in the prayer wheels are:

Medium Size:

  • Overall Dimensions:  8"H X 4.5"W,
  • No. of Mantras: 375 million mantras,

Super Size:

  • Overall Dimensions:  aprox. 11"H X 6"W
  • No. of mantras: 1 billion mantras.

Turning a prayer wheel creates extensive benefits for all beings because prayer wheels are the manifestation of the Compassion Buddha's holy speech. As a holy object, a prayer wheel has tremendous power to eliminate the self-cherishing mind that keeps us from realizing perfect bodhichitta and thus reaching enlightenment. By turning a prayer wheel with a motivation of compassion for all beings and reciting "Om Mani Padme Hung," you will accumulate extensive merit and purify obstacles. For more information on the benefits of the prayer wheel, please refer to The Wheel of Great Compassion by Lorne Ladner, Wisdom Publications.

Notes: Table-top models come in two parts and can easily come apart if you lift the prayer wheel by the body only. Although he body can be replaced back on the base, we recommend that you always lift and carry the prayer wheel by the base. Please don't turn a table-top prayer wheel by its crystal since it may come loose. Instead, turn the prayer wheel by grasping the top portion of the prayer wheel to spin it.Your prayer wheel should be viewed as a holy object, kept in a respectful place, and cared for with the utmost respect.
