Dharani (Skt, dharani), or zung in Tibetan (Tib. gzungs), has the connotation of "to hold or maintain." Rinpoche explains that it can also mean the "unforgetting wisdom for abandoning nonvirtue and abiding in virtue." A dharani usually consists of Sanskrit phrases and mantras, and can also be a short summary of the essential teaching contained in a much longer sutra text.

This Dharani contains the methods to relieve the poverty of sentient beings.

From the Dharani:

"Pure One, virtue beggars or female virtue beggars, males nearing virtue or female nearing virtue, if any of them recites this heart mantra three times every day, I will always follow that person. I will provide all the needs of that being. I will even look for their food, clothing, precious jewels, gold, possessions, grains, silver/money. I will complete all the purposes of that living being. I will let all sentient beings be under the control of that being. I will complete all the various activities of that being in that moment, except for those engaged in the sexual act."
