On April 2022, Lama Zopa Rinpoche offered a Milarepa initiation and teachings to a small group of senior Kopan monks, senior Khachoe Ghakyil Ling nuns, Western sangha, and some lay students. On that occasion, Rinpoche translated the Verse to Put at the Base of Paintings and Statues of Milarepa by Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye.

Jetsun Milarepa lived from 1052-1135 and is generally considered one of Tibet’s most famous yogi saints and poets. He is remembered by all sects of Tibetan Buddhism for living an inspiring life of spiritual progress and human accomplishment.

From the text:

Lord Mila, guru enriched with realizations,
Promised that merely hearing his name
Would close the door to rebirth in the lower realms for seven lifetimes.
Milarepa now abides in the city of great unification.
He blesses every single place and being of samsara and nirvana.
He definitely looks with compassion upon everyone who makes requests to him.
He bestows magnificent blessings upon everyone with devotion to him.
Therefore, supreme enriched yogi, I will strive in practice.
