Restricted. In order to do this practice, you must have received a highest yoga tantra initiation (wang). Traditionally, you must also have also received both the common torma initiation, categorized as a type of blessing initiation (jinlab), and the uncommon body mandala initiation of Cittamani Tara. However, some contemporary teachers allow the sadhana to be practiced on the basis of just the torma initiation. This is the case, for example, when the completion of a retreat for enabling actions (lerung) based on the sadhana is stated as a prerequisite for receiving the body mandala initiation.

Composed by Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, the Sadhana of Venerable Green Tara of the Near-Transmission Lineage is a long Chittamani Tara sadhana that also includes prayers and requests to Tara and a torma offering to Mistress of the Charnel Grounds and the Great Matrka Chandika. This is the sadhana to use for a nearing retreat of Chittamani Tara.
