Zhi Thro (Tib. zhi khro) refers to a cycle of teachings traditionally believed to have been written by Padmasambhava and revealed by the terton Karma Lingpa. The practices involve a mandala of a hundred peaceful (Tib. zhi) and wrathful (Tib. khro) tantric deities as well as teachings and tantric practices that focus on those deities, who represent the purified elements of the body and mind. These peaceful and wrathful deities are believed to manifest to a deceased person following the dissolution of the body and consciousness while they are in bardo, the intermediate state between death and rebirth.
