Anyone can do this practice. However, you are permitted to generate yourself as White Manjushri only if you have received:
  • the initiation (wang) of this aspect of White Manjushri; or 
  • the initiation of any deity of performance, yoga, or highest yoga tantra and the subsequent permission (jenang) of White Manjushri; 
  • the initiation of any deity of the tathagata type of action tantra and the subsequent permission of White Manjushri. 
Otherwise, you should visualize White Manjushri above your head or in front of you. 

The buddhas manifest in multiple forms to meet the diverse needs of living beings. It is believed that the buddha of wisdom in the aspect of White Manjushri is especially powerful at helping us develop and strengthen our intelligence, knowledge, wisdom, and insight.

This White Manjushri sadhana may be used by anyone. However, as usual, those who do not have the requisite tantric empowerments and permissions should omit generating as the deity.

The English translation by Ven Tenzin Namjong was undertaken at the behest of Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche in 2020.
